STRADIVARI
Love at first sound
Without a doubt – she is the crème de la crème of violins – the Stradivari. The Italian violin maker Stradivari took the secret of its making into his grave in 1737 and thus established the myth surrounding the 600 instruments still in existence today. To this day, the outstanding sound quality of his violins remains unmatched.
“Stradivari – love at first sound” – is a film about the most expensive instrument in the world and about the young, talented Dalibor Karvay who goes in search of the instrument of his dreams. An international search which provides the viewer with premium cinematic impressions from around the globe, accompanied by the unique sound of the Stradivari violin played by renowned violin virtuosos like Yehudi Menuhin or Nigel Kennedy. The 52-minute documentary for NDR / ARTE shows the expensive and time-consuming search for love-at-first- sound and, with the aid of a historic re-enactment, gives an insight into the making of the very special and unique Stradivari violin.
